The Bouvier Des Flanders is a powerfully built, compact, short-coupled, rough-coated dog of notably rugged appearance.  He gives the impression of great strength without any sign of heaviness or clumsiness in his makeup.  He is agile, spirited, and bold.  Yet his serene, well-behaved disposition denotes his steady, resolute and fearless character.  His gaze is alert and brilliant, depicting his intelligence.

Temperament is of utmost importance, as the Bouviers must possess the stable, protective attributes, while still being calm enough to settle into a family situation.  Bouviers are generally good with and protective of children.

His origin is that of a cattle herder and general farmer’s helper.  His harsh coat protects him in all weather.  The tails are generally docked and the ears cropped.

The coloring range from fawn to black, passing through salt and pepper, gray to brindle.  The average weight is 70 to 120 pounds with average heights of 25 to 27 inches at the withers.

“R” Black Faced Bouviers are bred to the AKC standards and seek the “ideal”.
